Strange Exchange is a library, community learning space, and forum in Glasgow’s East End, dedicated to curiosity, creativity, and experimentation. We offer a rich collection of books, publications, and resources that explore arts education, play, collaboration, imagination, and creative learning, providing inspiration and reference for artists, educators, and curious minds alike.
At Strange Exchange, we believe that creativity and learning are best experienced as shared practices. Our space is shaped through dialogue with the communities we serve - artists, educators, facilitators, and thinkers from across Scotland, the UK, and internationally. By making these resources visible, we celebrate the ideas, experiments, and practices that often remain unseen beyond their immediate context.
A core part of our work is functioning as a forum for exchanging approaches to arts learning. Each session is structured around a selected book, resource, or project, shared and activated by an artist, educator, or practitioner. These gatherings create space for discussion, reflection, and collaborative exploration, fostering the exchange of knowledge and practice in an open and participatory environment.
We invite visitors to engage with creative learning beyond institutional boundaries, offering a space to experiment, reflect, and connect with innovative ideas. Strange Exchange is a place to discover, converse, and collaborate - a resource that makes visible the work of arts educators and practitioners, inspires curiosity, and nurtures a community that values creativity, experimentation, and exchange.
